TGIHP: Thank God I Have Parents

Dear Almighty God,
Now that I am entering a new chapter in my life, I’m starting to understand how blessed I am to have great parents. How blessed I am to have someone having the same blood as mine raise me. To have someone who accepts me as I am.
Thank you for letting them give this wonderful and precious life to me. They did their best to care for me. They spent their lives struggling just for my sake. They sacrificed themselves working each day. They even bought things that I want even though I don’t really need it or sometimes, I can buy it myself.
Every day, they wake up early just to prepare my breakfast. They cook the food I want for lunch. The food that I bring to school always serves as the object that represents their love and care for me. It shows how much they love me and as a pay back, I study hard just to get higher grades so that they can notice that all their love and care resulted into something great.
They are older now and I wish that they will have a longer life. Always keep them well in their body and spirit. Let me be good and caring to them as they were to me. Let us have many opportunities to share time, memories and thoughts.
God, grant me the ability to accept things that I cannot change and please forgive me for the sins that I have committed like answering back in an inappropriate manner. Enrich them with Your holy grace so that I will always be their support and comfort. Let us be their joy on earth and the crown of glory in heaven.
I don’t know how I can describe all the things that they did for me but please bless them greatly as they truly deserve. Help me to be a good parent to my children just like what they have been to me.

-Jacob

Forget: Regrets

All of us have regrets in life. We regret the things we did that hurt us. I commonly regret even small things that I shouldn't even think of.  But like the others, I also have something that I regret the most. It is the lack of self-confidence.
I really lack self-confidence. I always worry about what other people will say. I always ask myself what would they say or what would they think? I, sometimes, do not trust my abilities. Once, I even thought of being a turtle. A turtle doesn't give up in carrying their shells. I mean it believes that it can carry the shell wherever it wants and it doesn't care how heavy it is. Whenever I recite something in front of many people, I always get nervous and forget what I will say. Often, I also can’t express myself when we are having a discussion and I am asked a question that’s why I always just sit down without saying anything and feel defeated. I think being negative is also part of my lack of self-confidence. I am really far from being confident.

We need to forget what we regret. Forget them and start a new life with new chapters that have better beginnings than the ones I've had. Always think positive and don’t care about what other people will say (except for some instances though).

I Would Love to Have a Date with Him

I invited Edgar Allan Poe to have a date so I chose the night time so I can feel the horrifying feeling while talking to him.
Me: Hi. Good Evening, Sir Edgar Allan Poe. It is really a great pleasure to meet you.
Edgar Allan Poe: Good Evening, Jacob. By the way, you can just call me Edgar.
Me: Yes, Sir Edgar. I am really pleased that I am facing the historical and a great writer of horror poems and stories, Sir Edgar Allan Poe.
Edgar: So, what do you want to talk about?
Jacob: Actually, it is about your poems, Sir.
Edgar: Oh, what about it?
Jacob: They are just so great. How do you even make those poems?
Edgar: I make them through my imaginations and sometimes I base it on my life.
Jacob: Is that so?
Edgar: Yes. How about you? Since when did you have any interests in horror stories?
Jacob: That was the time when I discovered a page in Facebook that is posting about horror stories.
Edgar: How do you find them? Creepy?
Jacob: Actually, most of them are creepy and sometime, I even woke my father up just to go with me to brush my teeth. Hahaha.
Edgar: Jacob, you're really something.
Jacob: Is that a compliment? No? Okay.
Edgar: No, you're wrong. You're actually interesting.
Jacob: W-why thank you.
Edgar: You're welcome. How did you find my pieces?
Jacob: I got interested when we started having a lesson about them and your biography. I just knew that you write horror stories. That's why I started to have a like on them.
Edgar: Ah. Thanks.
Jacob: Oh, no need to-- I mean, you're welcome.
Edgar: Well, look at the time. It's already past 10:00 pm. Better get going!
Jacob: Oh, yeah. Nice meeting you! Thank you for accepting my invitation. *disappointed*
Edgar: Nice meeting you, too! Bye!
Jacob: Bye! *still fascinated*

The Nine Stations of CNSHS

The first station is composed of the latecomers. They are people who did not reach the school before the clock strike 7:45 in the morning. They are punished by standing in the middle of the field. The second station is composed of the people who are not wearing their IDs. They are forced to perform squats . The third station is composed of the people who entered the school without the proper haircut. Their teachers are the one who will cut their hair for punishment. The fourth station is composed of those people who wear colored socks. They are forced to wear shoes without socks for punishment. We finished the first part of CNSHS. Now, we will proceed to the inner part of CNSHS. The fifth station is composed of couples who display so much of their affection publicly that it is already so irritating. They are forced to be separated as punishment. They always stay in the pavilion. The sixth station is composed of the polluters. They are people who throw trashes everywhere. As for the punishment, they are to clean the room everyday, if caught. We will now proceed to the inner rooms of CNSHS. The seventh station is composed of the noisy people. They will have minus points in academics if they will continue to make a noise. The eighth station is composed of the people who use cellphones while having a class. Their phones are forcibly taken and can be received at March. The last station is composed of the people who create nicknames for the teachers. They use nicknames that corresponds to what they are and what they do. They are punished by being not called during recitations. I actually belong to many of these stations including the last one.

The Grammar of this Generation: Text Messaging

As the time goes by, many things are being invented. One of these inventions is text messaging. Text messaging is the act of composing a brief message through devices. Text messages helped us in communicating with other people. We use it to talk to our love ones living far away. It is also used in business purposes. But are these things the only effect of text messaging? Is text messaging really beneficial for all of us?
In this generation, technology is so advanced that even young people are updated with those gadgets and they also text. Many often use shortcuts for some words in sending text messages. They often take the vowels off. They also use abbreviations. I noticed that some of my classmates use the word "LOL" even if they are talking to somebody personally and some even use this in writing. I can say that they are adapting the way they text and it affects their spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Actually, I don't text the way they do. I do text but I use the proper way. I text without taking some letters off or substituting words into numbers. But sometimes, I accidentally take some letters off whenever I am required to compose a paragraph. Text messaging somewhat affects me but not that much.

Sunday is the Best Day to Cram

I actually did not do anything progressive this passed semestral break. I almost did the same thing every day. I watched television. I went online on Facebook. I played a game on the phone. I just did the same except for the days we went out. We went out on Wednesday to celebrate the birthday of my aunt and also to visit the tomb of my grandparents from my mother's side at Manila Memorial Park. We spent 2 hours there, sitting with my relatives. After that, we went to a restaurant. I rode my cousin's car. We arrived late at the restaurant. We ate as many as e can because it was a buffet restaurant. We arrived home at :00 am because when we were about to switch the car we rode from the restaurant to my uncle's house, it became locked from the inside. We even broke the window just to open it to get our things. On Friday, we went to Ternate to visit the grave of my grandparents from my fahter's side. After that, we went to the mall to buy some things. Then, Sunday came. I'm still not doing any homeworks. When the night came, I did all my assignments up to 2:00 am. But, before doing my assignments, I drank coffee that's why I didn't get enough sleep./

Love: Easier to Say But Harder to Do

I have been in love for almost a year. She was my best friend ever since second year. Whenever you are in love, it feels like you already found the reason why you are going to school (other than studying and friends).
I have three definitions of love. (1) Love is the ability that God gave us to express our  appreciation to somebody. (2) Love is the reason why we still keep on living (love from family, friends etc.). (3) Love is also the reason why most of us feel depressed, sad and devastated. Love has many levels. Love can be a family love or friendly love. Friendly love is often considered as rejection by many people who confesses their love but they turned out to be as his friend only. I actually experience this three times already since I started high school. I was really depressed. I even cried three times because of them. The first girl who made me cry was my classmate during our first year. At first, we pretended to be in a relationship because of an issue until I realized that I am already in love with her. The next girl was my classmate when I was in second year. She really saw me as a friend only so I can't do anything about it. And the third girl, it also happened when we were second year. She was my best friend. We were always going to the canteen together. Even some of my classmates suspected that there was something going on between us which I hope to happen but there's none.
I would love a woman for she has a sincere personality. I would love a woman because I saw the qualities of my mom which a woman could only have.
